Hi everyone, let’s talk about tactical pens. You may or may not have heard of this term ‘tactical pen’, but what does it mean to the average person on the street?
For starters, a tactical pen is mainly used as a defensive weapon, but looks discreet enough and innocent till most people do not realise what it really is, till they get used!
Plus, you can bring them almost everywhere without being stopped!
Plus, they still write.
This review will be about the tactical pen that I currently own, the Gerber Impromptu Tactical Pen.
It comes in several colors, namely Black, Grey and Earth, and is easily available on Amazon.com.
For me, I have chosen Black as it’s the most discreet looking color of them all, and hopefully won’t draw the attention of any authorities who might wanna stop you for that.
The weight of the pen is very noticeable, coming in at 2.4oz, but once you start using it, you get used to the weight pretty easily. Besides, the hefty weight of the pen means that it will strike with greater force when you swing the pen!
Another point to note, for tactical pens, they usually are made of hard materials like titanium, steel or maybe aircraft aluminium, for maximum effectiveness in self defense. For the Impromptu, its made of pretty hard steel, plus it comes with an additional glass breaker at the tip of the pen, for emergencies when you need to break the glass of a vehicle to escape.
Lastly, this pen takes the popular Fisher Space Pen refills, so its easy to change whenever you run out of ink, as well as being a one-click pen rather than those other tactical pens which requires you to remove the caps in order to use.
For those of you looking to upgrade your EDC, this pen is something that’s worth your while. And for those of you thinking deeper about something to protect yourself, look no further and get it.
